Week 4 of the Mizzou men’s basketball season featured just one matchup, with the Tigers facing the Lindenwood Lions Wednesday at Mizzou Arena. One narrative for this Tiger team has been their tendency to get off to slow starts. This game was no different, as at the 12-minute mark of the first half, the game was tied at 17, and the Tigers couldn’t seem to get their offense rolling. A notable moment came when Caleb Grill left the game on a stretcher with a head/neck injury. As of now, there is no timetable for his return. Despite the sluggish start and 11 first-half turnovers, the Tigers led by 10 at halftime. The second half saw more of the same, with graduate transfer Marques Warrick scoring 17 points in the win. Tony Perkins led the Tigers with 18 points in an 81-61 victory.

What looked good vs. Lindenwood:

  • Free throw shooting in the second half (15/17)
  • Marques Warrick shot the ball really well (6/10 FG and 3/7 3FG)
  • Anthony Robinson II was very active defensively

What looked bad vs Lindenwood:

  • Turnovers; it was the “sloppiest” this team has played this season
  • Offense failed to capitalize off Lindenwood turnovers (7 points off 12 turnovers)
  • 13/20 on layups
  • 3 point shooting (5/22 for the game)

Takeaways from the week:

  • Slow starts continue to hurt this team
  • 3 point shooting is an issue, especially when Caleb Grill is off the court
  • Jacob Crews has struggled so far this season
  • This team CAN be good, just a lot of inconsistencies which may lose them close games

Upcoming Games:

Tuesday: Home vs. Cal (6pm CST)

Sunday: Home vs. Kansas (12pm CST)
