Mizzou Men’s Basketball hosted Lindenwood for game 6 of a 12-game homestand, where the Tigers secured a 81-61 victory.

The story of the Tigers in recent games has been slow starts. Despite their big wins over the past few weeks, Mizzou has struggled offensively at the beginning of games. This game was no different, as the Tigers looked sloppy throughout the first half, turning the ball over 11 times compared to Lindenwood’s 5.

Despite Mizzou’s 11 turnovers, the Tigers led 37-27 at halftime. Tony Perkins and Marques Warrick both had strong first halves, contributing 11 points and 6 points, respectively.

In the previous few contests, Mizzou seemed to run away with the game, but this time was different. Lindenwood stayed in the game throughout, largely due to the Tigers' constant turnovers.

Throughout the game, the Tigers played sloppy basketball and were unable to capitalize on Lion turnovers, scoring just 7 points off of 12 turnovers.

Despite the 20-point win, the main story of the game was the injury to Caleb Grill. With nearly 10 minutes to go in the first half, Grill’s head was hit backward by Lindenwood’s Jaylon McDaniel. Grill went down holding his neck and was eventually stretchered off the court after a long injury timeout. As he was taken off the court, Grill managed to signal a thumbs up to the Mizzou Arena crowd.

Perkins and Warrick were the top scorers for the Tigers on the night, finishing with 18 and 17 points, respectively.

Warrick finished 3-7 from behind the arc, while the team shot just 5-22 from three. This is a performance Head Coach Dennis Gates will want to improve before next week, as big matchups await.

Next week, the Tigers will host Cal on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. and Kansas on Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. Both games will be played at Mizzou Arena.
