Missouri offensive coordinator Kirby Moore is expected to become the next head coach at Washington State, according to multiple reports Friday afternoon.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Washington State has “targeted” Moore and that both sides were working toward a deal expected to be finalized this Friday. CBS Sports reporters Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer followed five minutes later with their own report, noting that Moore is set to become the Cougars’ next head coach after emerging as the program’s top candidate.

It was reported that Moore was in town earlier this week to interview for the Cougars' opening.

Tigers will be in need of a new offensive coordinator for 2026

Moore has spent the last three seasons as Missouri’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. This past season, Moore directed a Tiger offense that was top-10 in the country in rushing. Moore arrived in Columbia after a six-year rise at Fresno State. There, he served as wide receivers coach, passing-game coordinator, and ultimately offensive coordinator during a 2022 season that ended with a Mountain West title, a bowl win, and a nine-game winning streak.

Before Fresno State, Moore coached at Washington as a graduate assistant (2015–16) and began his career at the College of Idaho in 2014.

For Washington State, Moore brings a strong offensive pedigree and developmental track record at a pivotal juncture for the program. On the Missouri Tigers' side, Moore’s departure marks a significant change on the offensive staff heading into the 2026 season.
