Mizzou's Eli Drinkwitz Named to Dodd Midseason Watch List
By Zach Sweet
On Thursday afternoon, it was announced that Missouri’s Coach Eli Drinkwitz has been named to the Dodd Trophy midseason watchlist.
This award is arguably college football’s most coveted national coaching honor, celebrating the head coach of a team that achieves success on the field each year. It also emphasizes the importance of scholarship, leadership, and integrity—the three pillars of legendary coach Bobby Dodd.
Drinkwitz is one of 20 coaches named to the midseason watchlist and one of just six SEC coaches to make the list. A notable omission is Mike Elko, whose Aggies dominated Mizzou just two weeks ago.
The coaches named to our list have begun to set themselves apart,” said Jim Terry, chairman of the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation. “Their successes go beyond results on the field and extend to the communities they serve, as well as through their commitment to academic excellence.
Drinkwitz's team has started the season 5-1 as he continues to build an up-and-coming program. Mizzou hosts Auburn this weekend before traveling to Tuscaloosa the following week. These two games will provide a clearer sense of the Tigers' potential in 2024.
