The Tigers have added another quarterback in the portal to pair with Austin Simmons.

According to On3 Sports, Mizzou has landed former UConn quarterback Nick Evers. Evers has also spent time with Oklahoma and Wisconsin. The former four-star recruit in the 2022 cycle will likely also round out the Missouri quarterback room that features Ole Miss transfer Austin Simmons and Matt Zollers.

The Tigers have rebuilt their quarterback room after losing Beau Pribula and presumably Sam Horn. And while the talent is certainly comsthing to be excited about, there's one issue that may coma back to bite Eli Drinkwitz.

The Tigers may be a world of trouble if they can't stay healthy

While Simmons and Zollers offer plenty of upside, and Evers, who is entering his fifth year, has been around the game a long time, the trio has very little starting experience. In fact, between the three, they have just 14 total starts. Of course if Simmons plays well and stays healthy, it shouldn't matter too much, but if the going gets tough, the Tigers may not have anyone they can truly lean on.

Injuries happen. Just ask Drinkwitz, who was down to his third-string freshman quarterback near the end of last season. If Simmons gets hurt, or plays extremely poorly, it will likely be the Matt Zollers experiment once again, and it's hard to say how improved he'll be from his freshman year. So while, the raw talent and ability are overflowing at Mizzou, the concern around not adding a battle-tested upperclassman is very real.

The addition of Evers is fine, and he has played for other power conference teams over the years, but his in-game experience is limited and unimpressive to say the least. In his partial season as the starter for UConn, he threw for just 918 yards with five touchdowns and five interceptions.

All of this to say, hopefully nothing ever comes of it, and Simmons is the guy many believe him to be. But should an injury arise, the Tigers aren't in especially good shape at quarterback.
