Former Missouri cornerback Toriano Pride Jr. was one of sixe Tigers to receive an invitation to the NFL Combine. And while other players like Zion Young or Josiah Trotter were locks to hear their names called, Pride's future was much less certain. That is, until it came time to run the 40-yard dash.
On his second attempt, Pride ran a blistering 4.32, earning him top marks for all defensive backs in the 40-yard dash.

Toriano Pride Jr. 'flies' up the NFL Draft Boards with crazy 40-yard dash time
Ahead of the combine, Pride getting drafted was very much up for debate. His numbers this past season were decent, with two interceptions and 17 tackles, but he's likely only be a fit at slot in the NFL. So while some scouts saw him as a late Day 3 pick, there were other who saw him going undrafted. His lack of top-tier traits and size could be drawbacks, but after his 40-time, it leaves little doubt as to where Pride will go.
It's no secret that 40-yard times have propelled players up draft boards. From John Ross to Xavier Worthy, if you run a scorching time, teams are going to pay attention. And although, Pride didn't break any records this year, his top time for defensive backs is likely enough to push him up into the sixth or seventh round of most team's draft boards.
Pride may have helped himself the most of any of the Tigers who attended the combine. Zion Young didn't particpate in much of the testing, nor did Josiah Trotter, and others had solid displays, but nothing earth-shattering. At this point, though, it feels like a given that Pride will hear his name called. Guys who can run 4.3 just don't grow in trees, and the NFL is certainly wiling to overlook some other concerns with that type of athletic ability.
