In a somewhat surprising announcement Thursday morning, Missouri's sophomore tight end was ruled out for the team's Week 2 contest against Buffalo. College Football Senior Writer for ESPN, Pete Thamel, broke the news via X (formerly Twitter).

Norfleet had been battling this shoulder injury throughout training camp, and he exited the game before halftime on Thursday night with the issue still lingering. After the game, Coach Drinkwitz stated that the decision to keep Norfleet and Wease out in the second half was precautionary, but these new reports suggest otherwise.

The star tight end was poised for a breakout season after earning All-SEC Freshman Team honors last year. Currently, his injury is being evaluated on a "week-to-week basis," which bodes well for a hopeful quick return.

Last season, Norfleet tallied 18 catches for 197 yards and three touchdowns, appearing in 12 games.

With the news of Norfleet's injury breaking on Thursday, all eyes will be on how the team evaluates Theo Wease and whether he’ll be ready to play on Saturday. The hope is that Norfleet will return in time for the matchup against a tough Boston College team, who just upset Florida State in Week 1.
