Just one week after signing an Exhibit 10 deal, Sean East started on Saturday in the Los Angeles Lakers summer league opener. The 6-foot-3, 175 pound point guard was not selected in the 2024 NBA draft. But he didn't let that stop him from joining draftees Dalton Knecht and Bronny James in the starting lineup.

An Exhibit 10 deal is a training camp contract that can be converted to a two-way deal. This likely will lead to East playing for the Los Angeles Lakers G-League affiliate this year, the South Bay Lakers. The best way to describe an Exhibit 10 contract would be a league minimum, "prove it" salary, giving the player a chance to earn his place on the roster.

For the time being, you can expect to see a lot of Sean East in summer league. This will give him a chance to get comfortable playing at a higher level. In his first game, East scored six points, on 3-for-8 shooting, while gathering two assists, and adding three rebounds. Unfortunately East got into foul trouble picking up four fouls in just 20 minutes of action.

Overall though it was definitely promising to see East fitting right in with the summer league squad. Sometimes it can hurt a players confidence being passed on in the draft, but Sean East appeared very comfortable. It definitely helps that East has experience playing against most of the guys out there from his time at Missouri.

The Lakers are next in action later on Sunday afternoon, tipping off at 5:30 PM CST. You can catch the game on either ESPN+, or NBA TV. Summer league is accessible to everyone, and it's fun to watch college stars lace them up against each-other vying for NBA roster spots.
