How healthy will Mizzou be in its matchup with Boston College on Saturday?
By Zach Sweet
With Missouri and Boston College set to square off in the lone ranked matchup on Saturday, the Tigers received some positive injury news on Thursday afternoon.
Missouri has started the season 2-0, shutting out both of its opponents in dominant fashion. However, there's still room for improvement. One challenge through the first two weeks has been keeping the skill position players healthy.
Brett Norfleet is set for a breakout season, but after getting banged up in the Week 1 win over Murray State, he was not cleared to play against Buffalo, despite being questionable. On Thursday afternoon, the good news came in that Norfleet will be active for the Boston College matchup this weekend.
Having Brett Norfleet back is a key addition to Missouri's offense, allowing them to open up the playbook even more. His impact is felt on the field, whether it's through making tough blocks or catching passes and finding open space.
ESPN's Pete Thamel also reported that right guard Cam'Ron Johnson will be back for the Tigers. Johnson missed last week's game against Buffalo and is a crucial part of the offensive line. His return will be another boost for Mizzou heading into Saturday.
In other injury news, star wide receiver Luther Burden left the Week 2 contest after scoring a touchdown early in the second quarter due to illness. However, it was revealed after the game that his early exit was purely precautionary, as he'd been sick all week leading up to the game. During Tuesday's press conference, Coach Drinkwitz expressed no concern about Burden's availability for this week's game.
Kickoff is set for 11:45 on Saturday morning, and the Tigers will look to secure their first signature win of the season.
