With football season just over a week away for the Missouri Tigers, Luther Burden III continued to rack up preseason accolades on Monday morning. Burden was named to the Associated Press' preseason All-American first team. The positive momentum keeps building for the St. Louis native as expectations continue to rise.

Burden was one of three wide receivers selected to the first team, joining Tetairoa McMillan from Arizona and Emeka Egbuka from Ohio State. This is elite company, as all three are expected to be among the top prospects in next year's NFL Draft.

Burden is coming off a standout sophomore season in which he recorded 86 receptions for 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns. He played a crucial role in leading the Tigers to an 11-2 record and a Cotton Bowl victory over Ohio State. Heading into his junior year, Burden is poised to be even better with another year of experience under his belt and a team that's firing on all cylinders.

Burden will make his season debut a week from Thursday, on August 29th, when Missouri hosts Murray State in one of the first non-conference games of week one. This marks the third consecutive year that Missouri kicks off their season on a Thursday night. While they'll be heavy favorites, it will be exciting to see the team back in action, especially with anticipation at an all-time high.
