Missouri softball is not only dancing, but they are hosting
For the third time in four seasons, the Missouri Tigers softball team is hosting a regional in the NCAA Softball Tournament. After falling to the Florida Gators in the SEC Championship, the Tigers still knew they had a spot in the tournament, it was just a matter of if they were hosting and what seed they would get.
The Tigers will host the Columbia Regional as the No. 7 overall national seed, one of eight SEC teams hosting this tournament. They are part of the record number 13 SEC teams that made it to the NCAA Tournament. This will also be the Tigers' 17th straight appearance in the tournament bringing their total number of appearances up to 27.
Mizzou is hoping to reach the College World Series for the seventh time in program history and their first National Championship ever. This team has been one of the best in recent years finishing the season 43-15 overall and 13-11 in the SEC.
After making a solid run to the SEC Championship as a five-seed in the tournament, the Tigers only strengthened their resume allowing them to be the third highest-seeded SEC team. The SEC has been dominant in college softball this season, shown by 13 of the 16 teams in the conference making the NCAA Tournament.
The regional will be held from May 17th through 19th and the Tigers will be the one seed joined by 2-seed Washington, 3-seed Indiana, and 4-seed Omaha. Mizzou will face Omaha at 4:30 p.m. CT on ESPN+ in their first game of the regional.
