When Cody Schrader departed in the offseason, the big question mark for Missouri's offense was how to fill the void at running back. Eliah Drinkwitz addressed this gaping hole by adding two elite running backs through the transfer portal.

Nate Noel transferred from Appalachian State, while Marcus Carroll joined from Georgia State. The two have already developed strong chemistry and are expected to complement each other extremely well this season.

When Marcus Carroll spoke with the media on Sunday, it was clear how committed he is to the program and how fully he has bought in. Carroll shared, "The 'something to prove' mindset resonated with me; it really sold me on Mizzou as a home. It’s a blessing to be a part of a team trying to do something special."

Carroll continued to discuss the team and his role on the roster, emphasizing that he and Nate Noel are two very different running backs who each bring unique skills to the team. When asked about an NFL player whose game he tries to emulate, Carroll gave an answer that will surely excite Missouri fans.

"Growing up, I was a big Marshawn Lynch fan, so if anything, I like to play like Marshawn Lynch and that style of running through somebody's face."

It will be exciting to watch the contrast and usage between Carroll and his counterpart Nate Noel. Both running backs were successful last year and will now face the challenge of competing in the SEC on a weekly basis.

At Sunday's press conference, Coach Drinkwitz discussed the running back room and how they will be utilized, stating, "Nate Noel will go out there first at running back and will rotate with Marcus Carroll."

With kickoff set for 7:00 PM on Thursday night, anticipation is through the roof, and it's only a matter of time until we can officially say Missouri Football is back.
