Despite playing them close on Saturday, Missouri Tigers baseball was unable to get over the hump and take down the fellow Tigers, dropping game three of the series 10-5 to No. 2 LSU on Sunday, giving LSU the three-game sweep in Baton Rouge.

LSU started the game off hot, putting up four runs in the top of the first off Mizzou (8-11, 0-3) starter Kadden Drew, and from there, the game was all LSU's. While Mizzou managed to get a few runs back, by the end of the fifth inning, LSU was already up 9-3.

Mizzou’s runs came from RBIs by Tyler Macon, Kaden Peer, and Gehrig Goldbeck, but it wasn’t enough to match LSU. The Tigers added one more run in the seventh off the bat of Brock Daniels, but that was all they could manage in the final game of the series. LSU added a run in the seventh as well on a misplayed double steal.

The last run of the game came on an RBI single from Peer, but that was all the Mizzou Tigers could manage, falling 10-5 and allowing LSU to complete the opening-weekend sweep.

Despite his play in the field over the weekend, Daniels had the best day at the plate of any Mizzou hitter, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk. Goldbeck was right behind him, also going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two walks.

Mizzou was once again unable to capitalize on their opportunities in this game. Despite being walked six times and hit twice, which gave the Tigers plenty of free bags, they couldn’t bring those runners around, leaving eight on base.

Mizzou’s starter, Drew (2-1), picked up his first loss of the season, while LSU’s Conner Ware (3-0) remained undefeated.

Mizzou will turn its focus to next weekend's SEC home opener against the Ole Miss Rebels. The series begins on Friday at 6 p.m. in Taylor Stadium.
