Coming off an impressive 24-point win over Oklahoma, the Mizzou Tigers faced the challenge of going on the road to take on the Georgia Bulldogs.
Georgia entered the contest with a 13-2 home record, while the Tigers were seeking their second consecutive win.
The game started as a back-and-forth battle, with Tamar Bates providing an early spark for the Tigers. He knocked down two 3-pointers in the first six minutes and finished the first half with nine points, proving to be a threat from beyond the arc.
For the Bulldogs, Newell and Demary took control, combining for 21 points in the first half. Newell was perfect from the field, shooting 5-for-5, while the Tigers struggled to contain his presence in the paint.
Silas Demary Jr. finished the half with 10 points, proving to be a reliable option for head coach Mike White, who kept him on the floor for the full 20 minutes.
One area where the Tigers excelled was ball security, committing just three turnovers over the full 40 minutes.
This game against Georgia marked the third time this season the Tigers have reached that mark. They previously did so in a win over Jacksonville State and a road loss to Tennessee.
Despite trailing 41-38 at halftime, the Tigers came alive in the second half, quickly taking the lead and never looking back.
With 14 minutes remaining in the second half, the Tigers held a six-point lead. By the 10-minute mark, they had extended their advantage to 17.
Anthony Robinson II spearheaded the Tigers' second-half surge, controlling the game from start to finish. After struggling in the first half, he found his rhythm after the break, finishing with 15 points in the victory.
In addition to his 15 points, Robinson recorded four steals and was a force defensively, disrupting the Bulldogs all afternoon. Mark Mitchell added 14 points in the win, with 12 coming in a dominant second-half performance.
The Tigers controlled the glass all night, dominating both ends of the court. They out-rebounded the Bulldogs 36-27, including 17 offensive boards that led to 17 second-chance points.
The Tigers erupted for 49 second-half points, cruising to an 87-74 victory over the Bulldogs in Athens.
The Tigers' next matchup is Wednesday, when they host No. 2 Alabama in a highly anticipated showdown at Mizzou Arena. The game will air on SEC Network at 8 p.m. CST.
