The Tigers have completely rebuilt the team after a very active transfer portal cycle, but was it enough to compete in the SEC? Time will tell, but it seems that Vegas oddsmakers aren't so sure.
Missouri finished a relatively disappointing 8-5 last season that included a bowl defeat to Virginia. Now in 2026, Eli Drinkwitz have retooled the roster in hopes of making a bigger push, but the odds may be stacked against them.
FanDuel released some over/unders on Friday for the entire conference, and Missouri slotted in tied for eighth with Florida, Tennessee, Auburn and Vanderbilt at 6.5 wins.
Las Vegas oddsmakers don't have much faith in Missouri for 2026
6.5 wins seems a touch low, considering the Tigers could easily open up the season at 4-0 after wins over Arkansas Pine-Bluff, Kansas, Troy and Mississippi State. Still, their SEC slate gets pretty brutal, with a stretch that includes Texas and then Georgia back-to-back in the middle of November. Even so, it seems fairly simple to pick out at least seven wins on the schedule that also includes Florida, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma.
The big question marks for Missouri this year will be defensive line and quarterback. After losing both Zion Young and Damon Wilson II, Mizzou did little to replace their production, instead betting on some internal development. At quarterback, the Tigers are hoping transfer Austin Simmons can finally reach his potential after dealing with injuries at Ole Miss.
Ultimately, the 6.5 wins just feels too low for the Tigers. Mizzou still returns one of the best backfields in the country in Ahmad Hardy and Jamal Roberts, and has added some nice pieces through the portal. Assuming Mizzou can start 3-0, there shouldn't be any reason they cant find at least four wins in the SEC slate.
