Missouri has one loss on their record that will now be treated a bit differently than the rest of them. In January, the Tigers lost to Alabama 90-64. At the time, the Crimson Tide were utilizing Charles Bediako, the former G-League player who attempted a return to college basketball. He ended up playing three games, including the one against Mizzou, before being ruled ineligible.
Now, it appears that the NCAA Selection Committee will take into account the fact that Mizzou faced Alabama while Bediako was playing. According to Ross Dellinger, the committee will take that under consideration when determining the NCAA Tournament field. While it's not clear how they might view the loss now, any sort of advantage is a welcome sight for the Tigers and their tournament dreams.
Missouri is actually on the receiving end of some good bracketology news
This is obviously great news for Missouri, who needs every possible edge they can get when it comes to boosting their resume. While Bediako certainly wasn't the sole reason Alabama won, he still had an impact, totaling 14 points and six rebounds against the Tigers. Now, while the actual impact is unclear, it seems the committee is forgiving the loss in some capacity.
As of now, the Tigers would likely end up as one of the last teams in the field and potentially in a play in-game. With the Alabama game being forgiven in some ways, that might bump Mizzou up into a higher-seed and not in a play-in game. While it's a small thing, the Tigers aren't in any position to be looking a gift horse in the mouth.
Auburn and Texas A&M are the other two schools who lost to the Tide during the Bediako saga, and will likely have their loss taken into account as well.
