With basketball season right around the corner, teams are begginging to ramp up their practices, and outlets are starting to pass out awards.
A major one of those is the preaseason all-conference teams. With how good the SEC-Conference is slated to be again this year, it's an honor to even be in consideration of an award of that caliber.
True senior Mark Mitchell was honored in that award earlier this week, being named to the second team.

Last season as a junior, Mitchell led the program with 13.9 points per game, as well as rebounds with just under five a contest.
He was voted All-SEC in two different polls, one by coaches and one by media, so this can't be too much of a shock to him, though it must be a delight.
He's also a demon on defense, having a career year defending in the paint, and also averaging around a block a night, which led the team.
Mitchell came over from Duke following a drop playing time in his sophomore season. Since coming to Columbia, he's become a fan favorite. He took over several contests in 2024, as the team fought to a 22-12 record, and a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Tigers also saw themselves predicted to place No. 7 overall in the SEC Conference this season. Not great, but it is the highest preseason selection in nearly a decade, so confidence from the media is growing.
Mitchell, who is a captain again this season, will be doing his absolute best to upset some top-ranked programs, in and out of the conference this year.
The team only got stronger from last season to now, as they look to start off strong, with their first matchup coming at Howard on November 3rd.
