Should He Stay Or Should He Go?

Kansas’ Turner Gill seems to be losing almost as many fans as he is losing games.

"If I saw any indication that this team would be better next season, I would retain Gill but this team has flat lined. It is brutal. Zenger has to come up with the money to oust Turner and find someone new. It has to be done soon – the sooner the better. I’m talking next Saturday night as soon as the (final) Missouri game is over."

The question then becomes: should Turner Gill be fired or given another chance?

Many football analysts believe it takes four years for a new coach to be truly successful, because that’s the time it takes to recruit and develop his own players. However, in nearly every situation the team improves from year one to year two, but that has not been the case for Gill. Unless the Jayhawks beat Mizzou next Saturday, they will finish even worse than last year’s abysmal 3-9 season.

What’s really telling about just how bad Kansas is this year is that they are 120th out of 120 FBS teams in both yards allowed and points allowed.

Two years ago, they signed Gill to a 5 year, $10 million contract.

At some point, everyone needs to cut their losses, and it is time for Kansas to do the same.
