In 2016, Missouri football’s defense was as weak as it’s been in a long time. With Barry Odom leading as head coach, defensive coordinator DeMontie Cross got his start at coaching the Tigers’ defense.
Mizzou struggled mightily against top-10 offenses, but showed promise late in the season. However, a recent report stated that the defense is gaining cohesion among each other and with the defensive scheme.
According to Gridiron Now, this year’s Tiger squad is a “bowl-type team.” As long as Mizzou finishes the season with at least six wins, and the projection from the previous screen doesn’t come true, then this will definitely be a bowl-eligible team.
