Missouri Football: Five games the Tigers should schedule
So, I admit, I went “homer” on this next game, but I also feel like this would be an awesome matchup between two storied programs with a similar connection.
The University of Missouri, established in 1838, became a land-grant institution in 1870. Penn State, established in 1855, became one of the nation’s first land-grant institution in 1862, with the passage of the Morrill Act.
Don’t expect me to pick a winner in this game, at all. I love both teams, and would have a difficult time rooting for one or the other, as it is, though being an alum, I will have to go with Penn State.
I do believe that both programs will have some amazing playmaking abilities, and that the outcome would very close. Obviously, I’d love to see this matchup in Beaver Stadium, because that’s only a couple of hours away for me, but I’d just love to see these two face-off no matter where the game is played.
Against Penn State, Mizzou also trails in the win column. Penn State leads the series, 3-1. The last time they played each other, Penn State got the better of Missouri, 29-21 in Columbia.
In their second meeting in 1960, Missouri surprised Penn State in Happy Valley, 21-8. For the most part, the Tigers have been able to keep the scoring close in all of its games against the Nittany Lions.
No, I’m not picking the outcome of this game, but the home team will have the edge.
