Any hopes of NCAA Champion wrestler J’Den Cox hitting the football field for Missouri this fall have quickly come to a close, as Cox accepted a coaching position on the wrestling team.

According to Todd Palmer of the Kansas City Star, “Cox accepted a position on Thursday as a volunteer assistant with the Tigers’ wrestling program; he will also continue to compete in international wrestling competitions.”

This evening, Missouri softball will begin its first game of its season finale in a home stand against No. 21 Ole Miss. Mizzou leads the all-time series against the Rebels, 10-1.

Meanwhile, men’s golf earned a regional bid, which marks the team’s 13th appearance in NCAA postseason play.

This year, the Tigers are ranked fifth; also competing against Missouri are No. 1 Vanderbilt, No. 2 Texas Tech, No. 3 Clemson, No. 4 Georgia, No. 6 Lipscomb, No. 7 Kennesaw State, No. 8 UCF, No. 9 Middle Tennessee (host), No. 10 TCU, No. 11 Troy, No. 12 ETSU and No. 13 Harvard.

Representing the women’s golf team, Jessica Yuen was named to the 2017 Southeastern Conference Women’s Golf All-Freshman Team. The Tigers have received a nod for an SEC All-Freshman Team recipient the last two seasons. Last year, sophomore Emma Allen received the honor.

Finally, Missouri basketball signed an extremely talented shooter in Kassius Robertson. Amid the growing reality that Kevin Knox will probably commit elsewhere on Saturday, the Tigers secured a veteran leader on what amounts to a one-year “deal.”
