Mizzou News: Update on 4 star DT recruit Michael Thompson
Missouri athletics has been abuzz this week with recruiting news, athletic awards, and an update on DT recruit, Michael Thompson.
Earlier this week, Mizzou right-hand pitcher Montes De Oca, was named NSCA All-American. After missing much of the 2016 season, De Oca worked with strength and conditioning coach, Scott Bird. This award recognizes athletic accomplishments and dedication to the field of strength and conditioning.
Matt Lemanowicz is another NSCA All-American recipient in wrestling. Lemanoqicz, who briefly retired after the 2015-16 season, returned to wrestle after many injuries were suffered by Mizzou’s upper weights.

The awards continue, as softball’s Braxton Burnside and Regan Nash were named to the 2017 Southeastern Conference Softball awards list.
This marks the second time that Nash has received recognition, and the first recognition received by Burnside.
As softball prepares for the SEC tourney, it leaves us to wonder how far they will make it. The season has challenged the Tigers, as they played many top-ranked conference teams, leaving them with a record of 7-16 within the SEC.
Coincidentally, baseball continues to struggle after reeling-off 20 straight wins to start the season.
While there are still seven games (six in conference) remaining in the regular season, coach Steve Bieser is hopeful that the Tigers can finish strong.
Missouri football recruit, Michael Thompson, a four-star defensive tackle out of Parkway North (St. Louis, MO), stated that LSU is at the top of his list (wait, that’s not Mizzou news).
Unfortunately, if he commits to LSU, then Thompson is another of the “Tiger Top 10,” who Missouri will miss-out on, which means he is, very much, Mizzou news.
Thompson, who previously had Missouri among his finalists, told SEC Country, “I don’t really have a list right now, but (LSU is) at the top.”
A couple of weeks earlier, Thompson told Rivals Josh Hemholdt, “Mizzou, that is the only school I know for sure that is going to be on there because they are the home-state team and I get along with the coaches well.”
While Thompson doesn’t plan to announce his decision before National Signing Day, it will be interesting to see where he ultimately decides to play. One thing is for sure, Missouri would be excited to have his talent.
Last, but not least, former Mizzou guard KJ Walton decided that he will resume his collegiate basketball career at Ball State. The former 4 star recruit out of Indianapolis (Ind.) played three seasons for the Tigers.
