Missouri baseball flopped in the Friday night against South Carolina, but football may have a better result. Also, a concerning story about Shannon Welker.

With football season not too far around the corner, one SEC team has the Tigers designated as the 10th toughest game on its schedule.

"The Gamecocks could have issues on the road with a Missouri offense that took a big leap forward in 2016 and returns 10 starters. On the other hand, the Mizzou defense ranked among the worst in the nation last season and returns just three starters. In a defensive-minded league like the SEC, that does not bode well for Barry Odom’s Tigers."

It’s a day late, but Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch interviewed Tigers’ athletic director Jim Sterk about the future of Mizzou basketball in his “Five for Friday” segment.

A quick return to baseball – Missouri’s offense was absent against South Carolina. Jack Radetic of the Missourian has the full game recap.

Fortunately, head coach Steve Bieser is still optimistic that his team can turn this around. The Tigers resume action this afternoon at 2:00 PM, CT.

"“The guys haven’t lost hope; we just haven’t found that ‘secret sauce’ or whatever you want to call it to get this offense going consistently."

A recent story making headlines in Columbia may lead to an internal investigation of the Gymnastics program and head coach, Shannon Welker.

Recent criminal activity has led to the filing of charges against one athlete, while the program has experienced an unusually high, non-injury-related rate of turnover.
