On Saturday, Missouri’s Tanner Houck pitched the Tigers even with South Carolina. Missouri also won a pair of titles in the 5,000m run and discus.

In the second game against South Carolina, pitcher Tanner Houck registered a season-high, 10 strikeouts on 128 pitches. According to Joe Vozzelli of the Columbia Tribune, head coach Steve Bieser informed Hock that he was on a 135 pitch limit before the start of the game.

"I mean, I couldn’t write a better script, going out on a win; the complete game is a dream. I wasn’t going to let that game get away from me, no matter what."

On the last day of SEC Championships, junior Karissa Schweizer and sophomore Gabi Jacobs both won SEC Titles. Schweizer claimed the title in the 5000m run, while Jacobs claimed the title in the discus.

Schweizer loves the feeling of winning, and how that feeling never gets old.

"It’s amazing just to come out here and represent my team and just to get some points on the board. It’s an incredible feeling and it never gets old."

Jacobs was as excited, and proud of how her hard work paid off in the end.

"I’ve been working really hard this year. I knew how great these ladies were coming in. They push me every day in practice, just the knowledge of knowing how far they can throw and the great things they can do. With my new coach this year, we just really worked on technique. I’m so glad that it could come together at this point, I could throw far and do great things at the SEC Championship."

Meanwhile, there were thousands of students being recognized over the weekend for all the hard work and dedication that they’ve put in for at least the last four years. As usual, Missouri’s student athletes also represented, including graduating members of the football team.

A number of athletes will return to the gridiron for Mizzou in 2017, but will instead be studying within their respective graduate programs.

Head coach Barry Odom was extremely proud of his athletes, who were front and center for the weekend’s ceremony.

"Congratulations to all students who are graduating from Mizzou this weekend.  Naturally, we are very excited for our guys, and are so proud of them, and also for their families.  By earning a degree from Mizzou, they have changed their life course history.  One day, they will look back on this as one of the most rewarding achievements of their lives.  They have all worked very hard in the classroom, and they have earned it."

A series on former head coaching legend Don Faurot continues at Rock M Nation. Some of you may remember a time when Faurot had to find his replacementtwice!

Over the last couple of years, since one team to the west avoids scheduling games with Missouri like plague, a new rival is being fostered with Arkansas. A question has been posed: Which team has the better running backs in 2017?

It’s a tough call, but if healthy, I think Missouri gives Arkansas the edge. Regardless, it will be close.

Earlier today, we published an introductory to Missouri’s offensive line. Later, we will check out the Tigers’ running backs.
