Michael Porter, Jr. has received a lot of attention lately, but it’s all been positive. In a recent interview with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, head coach Cuonzo Martin compared the forward’s abilities to a couple of top NBA talents.

There’s no denying that having an athlete with Michael Porter, Jr.’s abilities on the roster is enough to make any coach excited. That’s probably partly why coach Martin compared Michael Porter, Jr. to NBA talents Kevin Durant and Kevin Garnett.

I’ve made some ridiculous comparisons, myself, but coach Martin is probably much better at making more accurate comparisons than I am.

"He reminds me of a combination of — when they were at the high school stage — of Kevin Durant and Kevin Garnett."

The weekend was bitter-sweet for Missouri athletics: Softball was swept, while baseball swept Tennessee.

More from Truman's Tales

For the first time since 2006, an Ehren Earleywine coached softball team did not advance to the next round in the regionals. Missouri, which fell to Wisconsin over the weekend, was eliminated from the playoffs.

Hopefully next year, the Tigers will be able to win the close games and maintain leads.

While this season was a tough schedule for softball, it gave the Tigers a better idea of where they need to improve against talented opponents.

With its sweep of Tennessee over the weekend, baseball finds itself back on the NCAA bubble, with tournament aspirations of its own.

The baseball team looked like it may have been playing to save face after a dismal second half of the season; amazingly, Mizzou found itself back in the playoff race after dismantling the Volunteers in all three games.
