Mizzou News: Baseball runs out of luck in loss to South Carolina
On Thursday afternoon, Missouri baseball rediscovered its alter-ego, and fell to South Carolina.
The Missouri Tigers, which had just lost to LSU, again lost on Thursday afternoon, to South Carolina, 10-2. While the loss is disappointing, it was a “free” run of sorts in the SEC Tournament for Mizzou.
With its quick exit from the SEC Tournament, it’s also likely that the Tigers were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament as well, but we’ll see if more magic happens to prolong Missouri’s post-season.
As you’ll see in another post later today, Missouri basketball did not receive an invite to the SEC-Big 12 Challenge series, which will take place among the same teams over the next two years. Any hope of Mizzou being invited won’t happen until at least 2020.

On Thursday, Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post Dispatch answered fan mail. As usual, there were some great questions and responses, so check it out!
It’s not often that we hear commentary from Dick Vitale about Missouri’s basketball program, but on Thursday, “Dickie-V” wrote a nice commentary about Missouri’s rebuild, and how all the right moves are being made.
Missouri basketball also gained another player on Thursday, in the form of Bradley sophomore, Ronnie Suggs.
Suggs, who originally committed to Missouri in 2013, announced that he will transfer to Mizzou as a walk-on for the 2017-18 season.
Also making a little news, is the NBC Sports 2017-18 College Basketball Preseason All-American Team. Guess who’s on the first team?
"Michael Porter Jr, Fr. MissouriPorter is a monster. He’s an athletic freak at 6-foot-9, but he plays the small forward spot and has three-point range. His recruitment has been well-documented — he is from Columbia, Missouri, but committed to Washington and moved to Seattle when his dad was hired by Lorenzo Romar only to move back to Missouri when his father was fired and then hired at Missouri by Cuonzo Martin — but it’s been deserving. Porter is going to put up monster numbers. Whether or not he ends up as a first-teamer come March will depend on just how good the Missouri team ends up being."
Finally, a little news from football. Missouri quarterback commit, James Foster, has been busy recruiting some of his own teammates to join the Tigers. What has worked well for Michael Porter, Jr. may also work well for Foster.
