Self-appointed athletics spokesperson, Pat Dye, has nothing better left to do, than stir up a commotion in his appeal to flip Auburn from the SEC West to the SEC East.

In a new twist on “how many ways we can say ‘no’,” SEC commissioner Greg Sankey basically told the proponent for change to cool his jets, because either way, Auburn’s not getting out of the annual Iron Bowl with Alabama.

Sankey stated, “It’s not an agenda item,” further relating that this topic is brought up on occasion. While geographically the change would make sense, I’m content knowing that annual matchups with Alabama and LSU aren’t directly on the horizon for Missouri.

"It may just be an obvious observation, but it’s worked. Are we comfortable? We’ve said absolutely (even though) we’ve had the last couple years not 1 and 2. Now, there’s some years where we’ve had 1 and 2, in fact a number of those years. That’s a reality our membership has accepted at the present time."

In its recent football schedule release, Missouri will open up its SEC action under the lights against South Carolina. Set for a 6:00 PM kickoff on ESPN 2, the Gamecocks will get to see just what the Tigers are all about.

Mizzou holds a 2-3 record against South Carolina, so the Tigers will try to even the series on September 9.

In a way-too-early to really know what’s going to happen post, one Auburn fan blog has set a preview for Missouri’s upcoming game against the other Tigers. According to “Acid Reign,” playing in Columbia will present a challenge for Auburn.

By the looks of it, Auburn’s offense holds the advantage over Missouri’s defense, while Missouri’s offense and Auburn’s defense are even.

In all fairness, Reign gives Auburn a close edge in the final, high-scoring affair.

On the track & field front, Missouri’s Ja’Mari Ward was named SEC freshman field athlete of the year. Ward won the long jump title in the SEC Championships on May 12.

On Wednesday night, Jontay Porter reaffirmed that he has not decided on reclassification, despite some loose reports that said he had re-classified. Whether it’s this year or next, rest-assured, Porter will play for the Tigers.
