The second full week of June is under way, and recruiting the class of 2018 is in full swing for Barry Odom and the Missouri Tigers.

According to SEC Country, Missouri ranks 14th in the SEC, and 67th nationally, for its 2018 recruiting class efforts. So far, the Tigers have received three verbal commits.

The 2018 recruiting class is led by three star quarterback James Foster, and recent commitments have come from three star athlete Jaylen Knox, and three star corner Tyrone Collins.

Coach Odom has a long way to go before completing his recruiting assignment for 2018. The Tigers’ top remaining prospects include Kamryn Babb, Michael Thompson, Trevor Trout, Ronnie Perkins, Ayodele Adeoye*, and Dallas Craddieth. Adeoye recently made a verbal commitment to Texas.

Track & Field

The weekend’s NCAA Track and Field Championships were a success for at least one Mizzou athlete. Karissa Schweizer dominated the NCAA 5k for her third national title.

Where Schweizer usually stays with the pack until later in the race, this time she took an early lead, which she maintained for eight laps.

"It was a little nerve-racking for me being out there in the front. I don’t normally race like that, but I just trusted my coach and trusted my fitness."

According to Tod Palmer of The Kansas City Star, Schweizer finished in a school record, 15 minutes and 39.93 seconds.

Baseball

The MLB Draft is just around the corner, and a number of Tigers are eyeing where they might be selected. Junior pitcher Tanner Houck is projected a top-20 pick, while six others are projected to go at any point in the draft.

This year’s draft class includes Bryce Montes de Oca, Trey Harris, Brett Bond, Robbie Glendinning, Cole Bartlett, and Nelson Mompierre.
