Missouri Football: Preparing for an evolution in 2017
In 2016, Missouri’s problems weren’t anything specific; it was lots of little things. This year, the Tigers hope to roll out a vastly improved offense.
Head coach Barry Odom enters his second full season for Mizzou, but while many fans are understandably anxious for improved results both on and off the field (recruiting), others understand that it takes more than an offseason (or two) to turn a program around.
In an interview with Alec McChesney of The Kansas City Star, offensive coordinator Josh Heupel seems confident that his offensive playmakers will get the job done in 2017.
"We are looking for our kids to become more consistent in the things we are asking them to do. The jump that we made a year ago from the beginning of the season to the end of the season … to continue on that path and make that same jump this year."
Missouri finished the season strong in 2016; with so many players returning on offense, many expect the Tigers to pick up where they left off.

In an interview with Tod Palmer of The Kansas City Star, the timeless “Border War” between Kansas and Missouri received more attention on Monday, as Mizzou Athletic Directer Jim Sterk stated that he wants the rivalry renewed.
A point of contention among many, I find it difficult to disagree with Sterk’s desire to reunite Missouri and Kansas in one of the best rivalries that “died” once the Tigers left the Big 12 for a more stable situation in the SEC.
"I’d like for that to happen. I think they made it a point when we left the (Big 12) that they weren’t going to play anymore, but we’re certainly open to that and I know (new men’s basketball coach) Cuonzo (Martin) will work on that behind the scenes and see if that can happen. In order to have a game, you need two willing partners, so we’re open to doing that in football and basketball and some of our other sports. That would be great to do."
It likely won’t happen, at least not as long as the current administration in Kansas has a say in the matter, but maybe one day. Until then, Mizzou still has Arkansas.
NFL
On Monday, former Missouri wide receiver Jeremy Maclin found a new home, after he was released by the Kansas City Chiefs a couple of weeks ago.

After visits with the Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens, Maclin decided to sign with Baltimore on a two-year deal.
