Missouri Football: Ranking Missouri’s best quarterbacks since 2000
Blaine Gabbert’s presence was felt the moment he walked onto the field. Standing at 6’4″ weighing 235 pounds, Gabbert was a force to be reckoned with.
However, Gabbert had large shoes to fill being the first quarterback to follow Chase Daniel’s historic run, and while he had a large shadow looming over him, Gabbert cemented his own legacy at Mizzou.
Gabbert was an incredibly accurate passer, often throwing for over 60% of his completions in games, and had incredible arm strength. He could also beat defenses with his legs and was one of the most athletic quarterbacks Mizzou ever had.
What most people remember Gabbert for is leading Missouri to its historic win over first-ranked Oklahoma on national television, in what many consider to be the program’s greatest victory.
If there is a blemish on Gabbert’s resume, it’s that he never won a bowl game as a starter, but that shouldn’t take away from what he brought to the program.
