Missouri Football: More game times set for Tigers’ 2017 season
To many fans’ delight, football season is fast-approaching. Missouri now has game times for non-conference opponents Missouri State and Purdue.
This year, Missouri will start the season off playing four games at home, which is a great advantage for the Tigers, who hope to carry last season’s late momentum into the 2017 season. So far, game times have been scheduled for tilts against Missouri State, South Carolina, Purdue, and at Arkansas.
The last time Missouri played Missouri State was in 1923. The Tigers defeated then Southwest Missouri Teacher’s College, 10-0. Seemingly a once-in-a-millennia matchup, the Tigers will face former Missouri defensive coordinator, Dave Steckel, in what is sure to be an exciting game.
The Tigers will take on the Bears at 11:00 AM on September 2 at Faurot Field. The game will also be televised on SEC Network.

On September 9, the Tigers play host to South Carolina in their first SEC matchup of the season. Mizzou leads the series, 4-3, and will look to extend that lead in its second week of the season.
In 2016, Missouri ousted South Carolina, 31-21 in “Columbia-East,” so that will be a motivating factor for the chickens. The game is slated for a 6:00 PM kickoff, and will air on ESPN2.
On September 16, Mizzou will host Purdue, in its third home game of the season. Purdue leads the Tigers by four games, but considering the Boilermakers’ recent lack of success and being a program supposedly on the rebound, Mizzou should have an upper hand in this game, and make a small dent in Purdue’s lead.
The last time these teams faced each other was in 1980, when Warren Powers was Missouri’s head coach. Missouri lost the battle by a close margin, 28-25. This game will kickoff at 3:00 PM and will also be televised on SEC Network.
Next: No doubt, Mizzou will win the SEC East
Finally, there’s the “Borderline Rivalry” against Arkansas, which was already announced earlier in the summer, with a 1:30 PM kickoff on November 24, airing on CBS. The rest of Missouri’s game times will be announced at least two weeks before each game.
