The Missouri Tigers track team competed at the SEC Track Championships last weekend; once again, there were some familiar names on the podium, including Karissa Schweizer.
Schweizer, the cross country national champion, finished second in the 1,500-meter run and first in the 5,000-meter run, to secure her place at the NCAA West Region Prelims. Her times were 4:19.98 and 15:58.14, respectively. Teammate Jordyn Cleve finished 21st in the 5,000-meter run.
Megan Cunningham finished first in the 10,000-meter run, with a time of 33:47.05. Gabi Jacobs finished seventh in the shot put, with a throw of 15.75 meters, and won the discus throw with 55.92 meters. Rebecca Keating finished fourth in the hammer throw, with 60.55 meters.
A pair of Tigers scored in the women’s high jump; junior Valeria Kostiuk finished sixth, for three points and junior Karissa Roman
finished eighth, for one point.

Kostiuk set a season-best in her jump, as she cleared 1.75m (5-8.75), while Roman cleared 1.70m (5-7). Both Tigers have a season-best mark of 1.75m (5-8.75), and will wait to see if the mark will be enough to qualify for the NCAA West Preliminary.
For the men, Christopher Conrad finished fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:48.68. Jerrad Mason finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.28 seconds. In the men’s 1,500-meter run, Zach Cook and Marc Dubrick scored points with 16th and 18th place finishes. Landon Cuskelly finished 11th in the high jump, and Will Fife finished 18th in discus.
The final results included the women finishing 10th, with 53 points, and the men finished 13th with 13 points. No doubt, Schweizer and Jacobs will be competing again before the end of the season, and Conrad could be joining them in the next round.
Next: Mizzou winning in major sports
Next up for the Tigers who advanced, will be the NCAA West Region Prelims in Sacramento, starting on May 24 and finishing on May 26.
