Mizzou football: Tigers scoring TDs everywhere in NFL Preseason action
Mizzou Tigers had a good night to open up Week 1 of preseason football.
Three former Missouri football players got in the end zone in NFL games Thursday night.
Rookies Damarea Crockett, Drew Lock and second-year pro J’Mon Moore all scored touchdowns in their games.
It was Crockett’s first live-action NFL game, while it was Lock’s second preseason game after playing in the Hall of Fame game last week.
Crokett’s touchdown came in the second quarter after the Houston Texans were trailing the Green Bay Packers 7-0.
Crockett talked about his performance after the game. He is moving up the depth chart, looking to secure a backup role behind running back Lamar Miller.
Plays like Thursday will help him. He slipped right through the hands of Packers nose tackle Tyler Lancaster on his way through two other Packers for the score.
Earlier this week, the Texans waived backup D’Onta Foreman, but the team traded for Cleveland Browns back Duke Johnson. Crockett finished with six carries for 24 yards.
Going against Crockett and his team, Moore made a sweet grab on the left side of the end zone from backup quarterback Tim Boyle.
Moore probably needs to jump one or two guys in order to make this year’s team. He is in his second year with the Packers after he was drafted in the fourth round in 2018. Moore had two receptions for seven yards.
The Packers beat the Texans 28-26.
Lock had a better game in his second outing.
He delivered a 2-yard strike in the end zone to Devontae Jackson. He also had this nice fake:
Lock wrapped up the day 17 of 28 for 180 yards and a touchdown to go with an interception toward the end of the game.
Rookie free agent Terez Hall picked up a sack for the New England Patriots in their 31-3 win over the Detroit Lions.
Hall had a good shot at making the team. His three tackles and a sack in his first game only helps him more.
Veteran RB Marcus Murphy had a good game for the Buffalo Bills. He piled up 33 yards on six carries to help the Bills beat the Indianapolis Colts 24-16.
Rookie Terry Beckner Jr. and veteran QB Blaine Gabbert see action tonight for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while other former Mizzou Tigers Kentrall Brothers (Minnesota Vikings) and Ziggy Hood (New Orleans Saints) also play.
