Drew Lock was in the middle of playing his third preseason game.

Drew Lock ended his Monday Night Football debut going 7 of 12 for 40 yards, and with a hand injury.

Lock went into the locker room after the first drive of the second half after suffering an injury to his hand on a second-down sack. He was questionable to return after the injury.

It occurred as Lock tried to slip by two defenders and avoid a sack. He scrambled to the left and made it out of the grasp of Jeremiah Valoaga but was tripped up by Marcell Harris and fell toward the ground.

Lock tried to flip the ball out, but he hit the ground before breaking his fall, slamming his right hand into the ground.

He immediately favored his hand and went back to the huddle for third down. He threw a nice pass toward the downs marker but his receiver couldn’t haul it in, forcing the Broncos to surrender a 3-and-out.

As soon as the Broncos went to the sideline, Lock met with Broncos staff and went toward the locker room.

Injury luck wasn’t on the Broncos side with their young rookies Monday. First-round pick Noah Fant left the game with a foot injury and did not return.

Lock was the first quarterback off the bench after starter Joe Flacco ended his night. He was supposed to play multiple drives in the second half.

Backup QB Kevin Hogan came into the game for Lock in the third quarter.

Before the rookie’s night ended, he was doing a good job.

Lock took the team down field with a 2-minute drive just before halftime and ended it with a successful 52-yard field goal.

The four-year starter at Missouri also led the Broncos on a 13-play drive earlier in the game that ended with a chip shot FG for kicker Brandon McManus.
