Mizzou football goes up against a Florida football team that has a solid passing game and can makes plays on defense.

Two of the best defenses in the conference meet up this weekend as Mizzou football returns home to play the Florida Gators.

That is great news! Because Mizzou is undefeated at home, and winless on the road.

Mizzou gets another ranked team to play against in its return to Faurot Field. Florida is ranked No. 11 in the country, the second week in a row where the Tigers will play a top-15 team.

Mizzou is on a three-game losing streak after falling to No. 6 Georgia last week 27-0. Mizzou should get quarterback Kelly Bryant back for this week’s game, and if that’s the case, the Tigers stand a better shot at getting an upset Saturday.

Here’s a look at the Gators:

Florida has been playing with backup quarterback Kyle Trask for most of the season. Trask has performed well for the most part, and has taken the lead for the Gators in his junior season. Florida possibly has found its QB for next season.

Trask has tossed more than 2,000 yards with a 66 completion percentage to lead the Gators. He has 19 touchdowns to only six interceptions. The Mizzou defense gets a good matchup against the QB.

He’ll be throwing to WRs Freddie Swain, Tyrie Trevon Grimes and Van Jeffreson. The three wide receivers will match up against Mizzou’s three cornerbacks with the addition of safety help as Mizzou uses multiple players in the secondary. But tight end Kyle Pitts is the top option for Trask. Pitts leads the team with 42 receptions for 528 yards and five touchdowns. This will be a game where the safety who drops down has his work cut out for him.

At running back, Lamical Perine  averages 4.6 yards per carry, but he also works out of the passing game. Perine has 28 catches for 155 yards and three scores. Nick Bolton will once again be a huge factor, and it’s good to see he continues to get better each week.

The defense is where Florida shines. The Gators are the No. 2 unit in the SEC behind Georgia. The Gators are better at pass rush and turnovers than the Bulldogs, but with a healthy starter at QB, Mizzou has a chance.

On the defensive line, pass rusher Jonathan Greenard is the top Gator. Greenard has four sacks, a team high, to pair with 40 total tackles, an interception and three passes defensed coming from the edge spot.

Linebacker David Reese II is second in the conference with 77 tackles. Behind Reese is defensive back Donovan Stiner, who has a conference-high four interceptions. Shawn Davis is right behind Stiner with three.

Next. Drew Lock practicing again, could be activated soon. dark

A win Saturday gives the Tigers their biggest win of the season. It’s a chance for Mizzou to end the year on a high note, even if it’s not as great as it seemed it could be a month ago. Mizzou football can move up the SEC East division with a win, and it’s a return to CoMO, where Mizzou is undefeated. It’s a big game for coach Barry Odom and the team.
