Mizzou Tigers QB Connor Bazelak injured in 2nd quarter
Mizzou Tigers lead Arkansas 10-7 at halftime, but their freshman starter appears to be out for the game.
Connor Bazelak started Friday’s game against Arkansas and delivered a touchdown for the Mizzou Tigers. Too bad his stay was short-lived.
The freshman was injured on his third drive of the day as the Mizzou Tigers lead the Arkansas Razorbacks 10-7 at halftime.
Bazelak started for an injured Kelly Bryant, who is out of the game with injuries to his knee and hamstring. Bryant did dress for Friday’s game, so after Bazelak went down, it was interesting to see which QB would come in. The Tigers decided to play sophomore Taylor Powell, who is 0-1 as a starter this year.
Powell drove the Tigers down for a field goal to take the lead 10-7.
Bazelak went down with a leg injury in the second quarter after he scrambled out right on third down. Instead of going out of bounds, he awkwardly stopped in front of a Razorbacks defender and was sandwiched by three players. Bazelak, who was on the Missouri sideline at the time he went down, immediately rolled over and was met by Mizzou trainers.
He is doubtful to return with a right knee sprain.
At the time of the injury, Bazelak was 7-for-9 for 80 yards. Larry Rountree III finished off the touchdown drive with a rush up the middle to tie the game at 7.
Rountree has 12 carries for 49 yards to lead Mizzou on the ground. Barrett Banister is leading the receiving game. Banister has six receptions for 60 yards.
Arkansas freshman QB Jack Lindsey has just one completion in the first two quarters, but the catch went for at touchdown.
