Mizzou football goes up against Arkansas for their annual Friday game to end the season

Mizzou football is playing in its final game of the 2019 season. Enough about that.

The Tigers will be looking to get to .500 on the year and close out the season on a high note. Arkansas meanwhile just wants to get through the year, and to somehow close the season out with a victory, a first in the SEC. Here’s a look at Arkansas:

Chad Morris was fired earlier this month and interim head coach Barry Lunney Jr. has been at the helm since. The Hogs could have a fifth quarterback start this year when they play their final game of the season.

Jack Lindsey came in last weekend and may get the start Friday. He has thrown four passes this season and has rushed three times for 30 yards. If not Lindsey, the Razorbacks have KJ Jefferson and Nick Starkel. Ben Hicks and John Stephen Jones are the other two to have started a game so far.

Either way, the offense goes through their running back.

Rakeem Boyd is the fourth-leading rusher in the SEC with 1,038 yards on the ground. He also can catch the ball out of the backfield and has been the go-to guy on this offense. Mizzou football needs to stop Boyd first. Tight end CJ O’Grady leads the team in receptions with 33.

On defense, Arkansas hasn’t played well against the rush or the pass. Mizzou needs to take advantage of every opportunity presented. Likewise for a Razorbacks squad that hasn’t been able to create many big plays on defense.

Like Mizzou, however, the best player on the defense is the middle linebacker. De’Jon Harris has 90 tackles, one behind Mizzou’s Nick Bolton and is third in the conference.

Arkansas has struggled to get to the QB this season. Jamario Bell leads the team with 3.5 sacks. In the secondary, Kamren Curl is the Razorbacks’ top guy. The defensive back has 76 tackles to go with two sacks and two interceptions. He and Harris both have touchdowns on the defense for Arkansas.

It’s the final game of the year for both teams. Both teams are ending the season with lows. It’s tough to say how either of these teams will come out and play.
