The Mizzou football team has two top performers in the SEC this season.

Mizzou football has two Associated Press All-SEC players from the 2019 season.

Linebacker Nick Bolton and defensive lineman Jordan Elliott both were named to the top team on Monday. Bolton, a sophomore, and Elliott, a junior, together led a strong defensive unit for the Tigers throughout the 2019 season and it’s no surprise that the two are placed on the first team.

Elliott was a third-team preseason All-SEC selection. Bolton was not on any team back in the summer.

Bolton started all 12 games for the Tigers at linebacker, and took over as the defensive leader midway though the year when star senior Cale Garrett was out for the season with a pectoral injury.

The junior from Frisco, Texas, tallied 100 total tackles, one shy of the SEC lead behind Arkansas’ De’Jon Harris’ 101 stops. Bolton had a sack and two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown. He also picked up seven passes defensed, while 29 of his tackles were solo and 8.5 of them went for a loss. Bolton will be back in Columbia next season and again will lead the Tigers defense. He will be a bright spot on a team that will be losing roughly 10 starters.

Elliott will be one of those starters who will be gone. The junior declared for the NFL Draft after the Tigers season ended.

He also started all 12 games, making 44 total tackles with 8.5 tackles for loss. He also had 2.5 sacks and three passes defensed.

dark. Next. Who is Eliah Drinkwitz, the soon-to-be Mizzou football coach?

Elliott, who had a strong sophomore campaign after transferring to Mizzou from Texas, did even better this past year and will look to have a strong NFL Scouting Combine and Pro Day at Mizzou to improve his draft stock for the 2020 NFL Draft. The Missouri City, Texas, native could be drafted in the first three rounds.
