Missouri basketball comes back to play today against Southern Illinois.

The Missouri basketball team played well last week to pick up a minor upset victory on the road over Temple. The Tigers returned the upset after the Owls came to Missouri to win the year before.

Now Missouri plays Southern Illinois, which has a losing record 10 games in. The Tigers were upset at home less than two weeks ago against Charleston Southern, their last home game. They’ll need to keep the same intensity they had in Philadelphia and not let another game slip by like they have already this season. We’ve seen Mizzou play up to the level of its competition against Temple and Xavier and play down, too, this season.

Here’s a look at today’s game:

Records: Southern Illinois 4-6; Mizzou 5-4

These two teams average nearly the same amount of points per game. Souther Illinois scores 64.9 while the Tigers have a slight edge with 66.4. Likewise with points allowed, the Salukis give up 62.8 while Mizzou gives up 59.

Southern Illinois has not won a road game yet, going 0-3. The Salukis are led by guard Aaron Cook and forward Marcus Domask, both averaging 15 points a game.

Each team has shot 210 3-pointers this season. Southern Illinois has made 71 shots for 34 percent, while Mizzou’s struggles have been noted this season, knocking down just 54 3s at a 25.7 percent mark.

Next up: Missouri goes to St. Louis to play its annual Braggin’ Rights game against Illinois on Saturday.
