Missouri Men’s Basketball: 2022 Conference Opponents Announced
By Kyle Jones
We’re still a ways off from the start of basketball season, but the Missouri men’s basketball schedule is beginning to take shape. The SEC announced conference opponents for the 2022 season on Wednesday.
The Tigers announced last week that they will be part of the Jacksonville Classic in Florida, with confirmed games against Northern Illinois, Florida State, Loyola Marymount, and SMU. Missouri will also take on Iowa State in the Big 12/SEC Challenge on January 29.
Missouri also take on Kansas on December 11 and Utah on December 18.
Missouri men’s basketball have an incredibly strong non-conference slate shaping up, and now they know how their conference slate looks.
While we don’t know the dates, we do know that the Tigers will get two games against Texas A&M, a team who has struggled greatly in recent years.
While those two games are winnable for Missouri, the Tigers will have a pair of tough two-game series against Alabama and Arkansas.
Missouri also has a tough road trip to Kentucky on the schedule, as well as a trip to Baton Rouge to take on LSU.
After a rough ending to Missouri’s season last year, which saw the Tigers lose 5 of their last 7 regular season games before falling to Oklahoma in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the pressure is on for Tiger head coach Cuonzo Martin.
The Tiger team looks completely different from last year, due to a majority of the team either graduating or transferring. It will be down to the new guys to carry the torch for Missouri this year.
Missouri was able to grab an NCAA Tournament berth last year, despite poor play against SEC teams. But they may not be able to pull that same luck again. The Tigers will have to find consistency if they want to make it back to the Big Dance.
