Missouri vs Auburn Odds: Line, Spread, Over/Under
The 8-10 Missouri Tigers host the #1 ranked 18-1 Auburn Tigers at 7:30 PM CST tonight. WynnBET has Missouri as 13-point underdogs and +640 on the moneyline (Bet $10 to win $64). The over/under is 141.
It’s a Tiger battle! While Mizzou comes in having covered the spread in four of their last five contests, Auburn has covered eight straight. In a matchup between two teams that’ve been friendly to bettors, where does the value lie?
Missouri vs Auburn Prediction
After a rough start to the season that saw them go just 4-9 against the spread (ATS), Missouri has turned things around and is finally looking like the team head coach Cuonzo Martin envisioned coming into the year.
They’ve ramped up their defensive intensity in conference play to the tune of the 4th-best 3-point defense in the SEC and rank 77th nationally in block percentage.
Unfortunately though, they’re up against an Auburn defense that ranks 18th nationally in defensive effective field goal percentage behind the best block percentage in the country. With the 39th-best defensive turnover rate, I expect Auburn to take advantage of Missouri’s 302nd-ranked offensive turnover rate and hound the latter’s offense all night.
Auburn’s no slouch on offense either, with the 15th-best offensive efficiency in America, per Bart Torvik. They’ve been slaughtering opponents and I believe this line is an overreaction to Missouri’s recent good performance. Missouri was a 14-point underdog when they hosted Alabama a few weeks ago (a game they won outright, for the record) and frankly, Auburn is much better than Alabama. Auburn should not be favored by less than Alabama was, even if Missouri has covered the spread well recently.
Missouri has faced ranked teams three times this season, losing to Kansas by 37, Illinois by 25 and Kentucky by 27. I think we’ll see more of the same here from an Auburn team that looks better than all of them.
I’m on Auburn -13 as my best bet in this matchup and think we’ll see them move to 16-4 ATS on the season.
