The Missouri Tigers will play the Memphis Tigers on September 23, 2023, at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, MO. The Missouri Tigers last played in St. Louis, MO in 2010, when they faced the Fighting Illini of Illinois. Mizzou left with a 23-13 win.

The Tiger clash between Missouri and Memphis was initially set to take place at Liberty Bowl Stadium in Memphis, TN. Shifting the venue from Memphis to St. Louis gives the Missouri Tigers a distinct advantage.

“Mizzou to the Lou” is a series held by the St. Louis Sports Commission. This is the first of its kind. Several Missouri Tigers athletic events during the 2023-24 season will come from this partnership.

A lot of good will come from this for the university, athletes, and the students. From a recruiting standpoint, the ties between the Missouri Tigers and St. Louis area are strong, and years old. This branding and STL sponsorship only strengthens those ties. Mizzou players would expect to have more NIL opportunities as well. The student body will be able to serve as ambassadors and promote the event. Not just this event, but all Mizzou to the Lou events.

This is a big win for the city of St. Louis and the Missouri Tigers

Director of Athletics Desireé Reed-Francois had this to say regarding the announcement:

"“The St. Louis region is a key market for us in recruiting, fan engagement and corporate support and we are looking forward to playing in The Dome next fall. Finding a unique way to hold events in the city has been a priority for Mizzou Athletics. This is an incredible opportunity for fans across the state as we bring Mizzou Athletics closer to St. Louis and the surrounding areas. We are grateful to the St. Louis Sports Commission for its partnership and look forward to continuing to grow and enhance the Mizzou brand statewide. We appreciate the hard work of so many people in making this series happen.”"

This is another step in the right direction for the Missouri Tigers athletics program. There is no such thing as too much exposure. The Tigers continue to work on recruiting local players in the state. This is not only a win for the Missouri Tigers football program but for the basketball program as well. Anything that brings attention to the program in a positive way is a plus.

Playing at The Dome at America’s Center means the potential of playing in front of 70,000 people on turf. This figures to be one of Missouri’s tougher out-of-conference games. This season, the Memphis Tigers are 4-1, including a 2-0 record in the conference, which is good enough for first place in the American Athletic Conference.

The remainder of the Mizzou to the Lou series and ways to purchase tickets should be available in the coming months. We will update as more information becomes available regarding game time, ticket sales, and any other Mizzou to the Lou announcements.
