When Missouri and Texas A&M take the field Saturday afternoon, it’ll be another chapter in a rivalry that spans decades — from the Big 12 days to the SEC era. Since both schools joined the SEC in 2012, the Aggies have claimed three of five matchups, including last year’s dominant 41-10 victory in College Station. At 2:30 p.m. CT this Saturday, at Faurot Field, the two clash again.
Tigers Looking to Rebound
Missouri enters the matchup 6–2 overall and 2–2 in SEC play, ranked No. 22 in the College Football Playoff rankings. After a narrow loss to Vanderbilt, all eyes are now on true freshman quarterback Matt Zollers, who will make his first collegiate start.
Zollers — a 6-foot-4, 214-pound former Top-100 recruit — showed flashes in relief last week after coming into the game for an injured Beau Pribula, throwing for 138 yards and a touchdown.
The Tigers' pair of running backs, Ahmad Hardy and Jamal Roberts, will be something to look for as always. Hardy, who sits just shy of 1,000 yards, ranks second in the SEC with 11 rushing touchdowns.
The Offensive Taste the Tigers are facing
On the other side, Missouri’s defense will face its toughest challenge yet in Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed. The redshirt sophomore has totaled 1,972 passing yards, 349 rushing yards, and 23 total touchdowns, emerging as one of the most dynamic dual-threat QBs in the SEC.
The Aggies have also received production from Reed’s legs and a lethal receiving duo in Mario Craver (716 yards, 4 TDs) and KC Concepcion (545 yards, 7 TDs).
On the defensive line, as a result, Mizzou's Damon Wilson II and Zion Young will look to disrupt Reed in the pocket and that is an uphill task against any team, let alone an undefeated SEC team that has only allowed seven sacks to the QB all season.
