The Missouri Tigers already boast a top-10 recruiting class for 2026, and they might not be done. Head coach Dennis Gates has been hitting the recruiting trail hard, landing three top-100 prospects, including five-star guard Jason Crowe Jr. Now, they appear to have turned their attention to a top-30 recruit that was recently released from his commitment.
Four-star recruit Quentin Coleman was officially granted his release from Wake Forest, and will re-open his recruitment. According to ESPN's Paul Biancardi, Coleman has already heard from Mizzou as well as several other teams.
Missouri was not initially a finalist for Coleman in his initial recruitment, but the St. Louis native may be staying home after all if Mizzou has anything to say about it.
Missouri is back in the mix for another top-recruit after Quentin Coleman recieves release from Wake Forest
Among the other teams Coleman has heard from are Illinois, Iowa, UCLA, USC, Texas Tech, SLU, and Kansas. So while the opportunity to stay close to home with Missouri remains a strong pull, the Tigers will have no shortage of competition. The 6-foot-4, 180-pound guard is the No. 3 ranked player in the state.
Missouri already has one of the best classes in the country, so adding Coleman might feel like an embarrassment of riches. But whether you appreciate his coaching or not, it's obvious Gates is one of the elite recruiters in the country. Gates had another top-15 class back in 2024, and now figures to have a top-five class should the Tigers land Coleman.
As Mizzou continues to monitor Coleman's situation, they'll also be preparing to face Kentucky in the SEC Tournament on Thursday. Should they win, they'll have a date with Florida. The Tigers are currently on a two-game losing streak, and are looking to reinforce their NCAA Tournament standing with another victory or two.
