Could former Mizzou running back Tyler Badie play his way on to a roster in 2024?
By Zach Sweet
Former University of Missouri running back Tyler Badie continues to impress whenever he touches the ball in preseason. However, opportunities have been limited for the New Orleans native. After being selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2022 NFL Draft, Badie was waived before playing a game and was then signed by the Denver Broncos.
The 24-year-old has only played in one regular season game, which was in 2022 when he appeared for the Broncos in Week 18. During that game, Badie scored a 24-yard touchdown, but was unfortunately waived after the season. He re-signed with the Broncos on a practice squad contract and has only seen action in the preseason since.
In the 2024 preseason, Badie has been impressive, scoring in both games so far. On Sunday night, he caught a screen pass and took it seven yards for a touchdown. This came just a week after his 11-yard touchdown run in the Broncos first preseason game against the Colts.
Unfortunately for the Missouri product, he’s struggled to see consistent snaps. Despite showing his full potential every time he gets an opportunity, Badie has yet to secure regular playing time in the NFL, and has had a difficult time sustaining reps in the preseason.
Heading into the 2024 season, Badie is likely to end up on the Denver Broncos practice squad, but the 24-year-old still has a lot to offer. There's a possibility that another NFL team could give Badie the opportunity he hasn't yet received in Denver.
With the season quickly approaching, expect to hear roster news about the Missouri product in the coming weeks. While his future remains uncertain, Badie has consistently shown his talent when given a chance, and thats all he'll be looking for in the near future.
