Missouri fans react to historically bad season after first-round SEC Tourney exit
Congratulations Tiger fans, the suffering is officially over. The historically bad season that the Missouri men's basketball team had where they did not record a single SEC win is unfortunately in the history books.
The Tigers ended their season on a 19-game losing streak unable to get a win against any SEC opponent. This will go down as the worst record in conference play in Missouri basketball history. The Tigers did have one other season where they did not get a win in conference play, but that was in the 1907-1908 season when they were playing in the Missouri Vally Conference and only played 18 games in a season.
This will mark Missouri's worst season since the Kim Anderson era where he led the Tigers to an 8-23 record in the 2016-2017 season, but Anderson was able to get at least two wins in SEC play.
The only way this season can be described is as a disappointment, especially after Missouri went 25-10 and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in head coach Dennis Gates' first season. The drastic fall is surprising, to say the least.
Fans took to X (formally known as Twitter) to air out frustrations, after the Tigers lost to the Georgia Bulldogs in the first round of the SEC Tournament. The frustrations mainly come from the fact that that Mizzou had a lead multiple times in the game, but they just could not seem to hold on yet again.
Here is how some fans are reacting to the game and the historically bad season.
When you sit and think about it, it is true, Mizzou will not get a chance to win a game until November 2024.
Go Tigers softball!
It was a rough basketball season all around for the Missouri Tigers. It would not be outrageous to say that Gates is on the hot seat but crazier things have happened at Mizzou and they just might choose to give him one more shot and keep him around next season.
