Mizzou outside hitter Mychael Vernon has been named SEC Offensive Player of the Week following her standout performance to kick off conference play. She led the team with 43 kills over the weekend, hitting an impressive .407%.

The Oregon State transfer helped lead the Tigers to a three-set sweep of LSU and was a bright spot in the five-set loss to Texas A&M. In addition to her kills, she contributed 18 digs and five blocks.

Her 17 kills against LSU set a career high, which she surpassed with a 26-kill performance against Texas A&M. She currently leads the team in kills (191), ranks seventh in the SEC, and her .409 hitting percentage places her ninth in the conference.

The Texas A&M match marked her eighth consecutive game with 10 or more kills and her fifth with over 10 digs. To cap it off, she added three service aces over the weekend, all coming in the match against LSU.

This is Vernon’s first time receiving SEC honors. She'll be back in action when the Tigers travel to Lexington, Kentucky, on Sunday.
