Missouri's coach Eli Drinkwitz signed a new, lucrative contract with the Tigers just weeks ago, but it seems he's already rising on the list of potential hires for Michigan.

According to the Associated Press, the firm hired to find the Wolverine's next head coach has reached out to Drinkwitz's representation.

Michigan's coach Sherrone Moore was fired with cause earlier this week after engaging in an inappropriate workplace relationship, and now the university is left scrambling to find a coach just weeks before the transfer portal opens. The same AP report also said that the firm has reached out to Arizona State's Kenny Dillingham.

Is Missouri about to lose their head coach right after losing their OC?

Mizzou lost offensive coordinator Kirby Moore to Washington State earlier this week, and it now appears there's a chace Drinkwitz could be on the move as well. Of course, just because the Wolverines reached out doesn't mean anything is imminent. There's likely a dozen other coaches who will hear from their firm, but it does give the Tigers coach something to think about.

While Drinkwitz has enjoyed plenty of success at Missouri, reaching five straight bowl games, an offer from one of the biggest programs in the country might make him re-consider his options. Dillingham has made it fairly clear he has no intentions of leaving his alma-mater, but Drinkwitz may be open to a move in the right deal.

Still, it feels like a Drinkwitz move to Michigan isn't likely. The Wolverines would have to think of him as their top choice, and offer a significantly better deal than his current extension at Mizzou. While Michigan certainly would have the resources to do so, they'll have plenty of other interest in the job from other coaches despite the circus surrounding the program at the moment.
