Missouri fans were holding their breath all week, waiting to hear if their beloved quarterback, Brady Cook, would be on the field against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Cook was a game-time decision with an ankle injury that he suffered last week against Auburn.
Cook ended up being a go for the game and played the first five drives for the Tigers but went down with a different injury during that fifth drive. Backup quarterback Drew Pyne went in for the injured Cook while he went back to the locker room.
After going into the Alabama locker room for X-rays, then went into the Missouri locker room and has yet to return to the field. As the second half started, it was reported that Cook was officially ruled out for the rest of the game, but it wasn't the ankle he hurt last week, it was an upper-body injury.
On the drive where Cook was injured, he hit his right throwing hand on the helmet of an Alabama defensive player, and that was what he was having x-rayed. Clearly, it is more than just a hand injury if they are saying it is an upper-body injury.
When Cook left the game, he was 7-for-12 with 30 passing yards and no touchdowns. Backup quarterback Drew Pyne came into the game and, on his first drive, threw an interception, since then, he has been just 3-for-7 with 18 passing yards and another interception.
The Tigers will have to figure something out for the rest of the season if Cook has to miss some time due to this injury or even the ankle injury he suffered last week that sent him to the hospital during the game, but he ultimately returned in the second half.
