Missouri Football: Tigers holding their breath on Kamryn Babb and other recruits

This week, Missouri will be watching the outcome of Nike’s “The Opening Finals,” in the hope of landing at least three prospective recruits, including Kamryn Babb.

Missouri’s recruiting efforts seem to have taken a back seat recently, but it’s not for lack of interest. At this point, there are three major targets who are not committed to a program, yet.

If Missouri is able to land any of these recruits, then it would make a huge difference in the Tigers’ outlook going into the 2017 football season, and could make Mizzou a more tantalizing option for future recruits to consider.

Kamryn Babb, a 4 star wide receiver out of Christian Brothers College, would develop well into a starting role at a position that always seems starved for talent.

Whether he redshirts in his freshman year, would depend on multiple factors, but even starting as a sophomore would be a game changer for Mizzou’s offense.

Babb, who is projected to commit to Ohio State, recently stated that he plans to trim his list, so it will be interesting to see which programs continue making the cut.

He also stated that he might just announce his decision and drop the list, altogether.

Also catching Missouri’s attention are Michael Thompson and Ronnie Perkins.

All three are in-state prospects, which Mizzou has struggled to receive commits from. The good news for the Tigers, is that these three are still available, and haven’t really taken a hard lean toward a particular program.

Thompson and Perkins would make solid additions to the Tigers’ defensive line, especially at a time when the line has lost some of its talent to the NFL – not a bad problem to have, but it needs replenishment.

Given Missouri’s success rate at producing first- and second-round NFL draft talent, the Zou could be a major draw to a defensive lineman with ambitions of playing at the next level.

Looking beyond the draft, prospective recruits can also see that a number of those defensive players have led long and successful careers in the NFL.

It will be interesting to keep an eye on these three young men over the next week or two, and see where they take their talents – hopefully to Columbia.
